Im running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, with a XFI GTX275 896Mb. When i run dxdiag it reports that the system is using Direct X11! This Nvidia card only supports up to dx10.1 can anyone tell me why this is so? Is it a bug?
Simple, Windows 7 will support DX11 cards if you have one installed. If you have a DX10 card installed, Windows 7 will support it too... understand now?
I want to know why Windows 7 dxdiag displays that its using dx11 when in fact the card i have installed is only a dx10 card. Now, Tmagic650 do you understand my question?
Hi andy,
the system tab on dxdiag shows you what version the OS is capable of, in other words DX capabilities are backwards compatible, and you can use any version up to DX11. if you pull up DXDIAG on windows XP, it will say DX9 even if you have a DX10 card installed because that is the last dx revision it supports. if you go to the display tab, it will show you the graphics you actually have installed.
Thanx for the help, i am satisfyed. Just dont understand dxdiag reporting the version dx11, when im only running dx10.1. But i take it this is just how it is. Thanx again.
