I have a Emachines M5309. The cd-rom refuses to play anything now. It would try to read the disk and hum really loud and fast like it was going to fly off, then stop. The only thing that happened before it was that I had tried playing some DVDs that weren't burned right. Then after that, the drive wouldn't play anything.
I've seen this happen on other laptops before. I've noticed that it tends to happen with disks that have paper labels, and wonder if the paper label adds too much weight to the disk and causes the error reading it. But in those cases, the cd-rom works again if I put in another disk. Now, it doesn't read anything.
Can someone help me with this?
