Email Forwarding?

I seem to have stumbled upon a small problem, doesn't seem to be anything too big from my point of view but I'm just not to sure about resolving it.

Recently, My father got a new Macbook and I setup the email on it but he wants it setup so all the incoming email will go to his home desktop PC and the mac that way he has a copy of all the emails on both computers.

Before you suggest it, Google is being used as you are reading this. Thanks.

when using thunderbird, select - keep a copy of messages on server as an option and select leave messages as unread on server.

or better yet- set up email as IMAP.
