Email hyperlink

I am not technical at all, can you tell me if I have emailed a hyperlink from my work computer to an external agency with the file path file:/// , from my work downloads folder, would the external agency be able to open it ? I have to use vpn but as I said this was in my downloads folder. I have tried forwarding it again to a couple of my personal email addresses and can not open it so does this mean the external agency won't? Hope that makes sense

You make sense -- but it will NOT WORK for the agency.
File:/// a/b/c.... is a reference to a file that is INTERNAL to you and inaccessible to everyone else.

1). email servers can only service ~20mb files -- some are even smaller than that.
2). in your mail composing program, click new email, find and click ATTACH and then navigate to and attach the required file.
3) fill-in the recipient's email address
3). click SEND

If it bounces back or gets rejected, then the file is too big for email.

Thanks so much for your response. Can you just confirm that as an external agency they wouldn't be able to change the file path their end and get into the internal network and my company's files ?
