A couple of years ago, pundits predicted the beginning of the end for dominant social network Facebook. The reason? Teens were ditching the service in favor of other social media solutions like Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter.

Despite the doom and gloom, Facebook pushed forward as it managed to reach 1.39 billion monthly active users this past January. With more people now than ever logging in to check their News Feed, one must wonder how the site ranks among teens today. Fortunately, Pew Research Center has the answer.

In its most recent report, Pew found that Facebook is still by far the most popular social media platform for teens. Of those between the ages of 13 and 17, 71 percent said they use Facebook. Instagram ranked second with 52 percent followed by Snapchat and Twitter at 41 percent and 33 percent, respectively.

The report also found that most teens don’t restrict themselves to a single platform. Of those polled, 71 percent said they use more than one of the seven platforms presented in the study. Among those that only used one site, 66 percent said they preferred Facebook.

Looking at the bigger picture, Pew found that 24 percent of teens go online “almost constantly,” largely a result of the widespread use of smartphones. Furthermore, 92 percent of teens go online daily while more than half (56 percent) said they hit the web multiple times per day.

The only time I ever get on facebook is to get rid of the stupid notifications. I never actually look at feed anymore, mostly just older folks who are in my feed now-a-days. I have an instagram and twitter, and I use twitter wayyyy more often than instagram because people my age and from my generation post tweets constantly that I find interesting. Also I would hardly consider snapchat to be a social media network..I don't see how it fits into that category in any way, besides sharing stories.

Sure FB is the leader, but how many teens use social media and dont' use FB? I'd guess hardly any. I think if you're online and using social media then you're using FB. Maybe I'm completely off on this, but I'd be surprised if there were a large number of teens who used snapchat, instagram and twitter but DIDN'T have a FB page.

I'd guess that 29% of teens who don't use facebook also don't care much about other social media either.

I dont understand why people use instagram and twitter when facebook combines both those things...I mean sure people are up in arms about PRIVACY but facebook owns instagram and you shouldnt be posting sensitive material on the internet anyway..
