After reinstalling XP I cannot open any of the files under my previous acct name(which is now in black(when I move the cursor over the folder, msg indicates 0 bytes. Not so.) during oth scans, ie Norton, files do appear as if they are still on the drive). I get a message [folder name] is not accessible. Access is denied. These are mostly large home video files up to just over 1 Gb in size.
All of this started a couple of months ago when I apparently received a virus or some type of spyware. I lost ALL of my desktop icons AND my task bar. The only way I could get into things was via Taskmanager. To solve this issue, silly me reinstalled the OS onto this Dell Inspiron 9100.
