Go one step bigger and get an AMD64/3000 (with Venice core), Socket939, and a corresponding motherboard with AGP, such as MSI's K8N Neo2 Platinum.

In future you could e.g. upgrade just the CPU for a DualCore CPU.

And get a case with a better and more powerful PSU, like the Antec Sonata II.

You don't need an extra soundcard, it has it built-in.

The above changes should not cost you more than ca. £70.-

ok i have taken you advise, i have found the motherboard, but i cant find the amd64/3000 with venice core anywhere, also i have found a case its a I-Cute 0314TL ATX Gaming Case in Black with side window and 400w PSU, but it says it is a gaming case but can i just use it as a normal case or does it have a different lay out in side or something

AMD64/3000 Venice: http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/AMD_Socket_939.html

The case is alright if you are into Xmastree-illuminations etc. The gaming aspect is meant for taking it to LAN-parties etc and 'show off'. As such, the case is very similar to 'normal' cases and can be used as you would any other PC.
The 400W PSU that comes with it needs to be replaced though, it is utter rubbish.

This case (incl. the PSU) from Komplett is much better:
