Oh heck if you just turn the radio on and listen to the top 40 or 100 than allot of those songs I like, and the bands/singers that do them.
i'm with you on that. i stay away from the radio mainly because of the idea that you have to sift through a crap ton of other songs that are mindless pieces of junk.
i rely on having friends show me something that's really cool. most of them have great taste in music after all. and once in a while, they stumble on an artist or band that's truly amazing. i'd rather hear about what my friends think is great quality rather than what the radio thinks is great quality.
heck..sometimes i just stumble on an amazing band or artist on my own. either way, radio != amazing. in fact, radio == fail.
I have a huge list of artists that I listen to, but these have to be the top:
Green Day (mostly old albums)
AFI
Muse
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Feeder
Maximo Park (seeing them Thursday )
New Found Glory
Pigeon Detectives
Foo Fighters
Rancid
Now for a couple you won't know:
Exit Avenue (my #1 Unsigned UK Band)
Man On Earth (my #1 US Unsigned Band)
I used to be massively into Linkin Park but then discovered Green Day but I still listen to them on the odd occasion
I find that chart stuff is generally horrid tunes by people who have never written a song before and don't know what they're singing about so I stopped listening to the chart on the radio about 3 years ago
I'm gonna press Submit now before i think of more bands haha
