Fortnite's in-game clothes are a status symbol among today's youth

Ha, nope dont get why people are into that silly cheesy graphic fortnite crap, thats like snapcrap, both useless

I like the fortnite model, although would like to see a low limit on spending and low cost items and maybe work in coop with childrens savings so maybe 90% spent goes to savings or charity maybe.
Micro transactions really need to live up to thier name and probably would generate more profits due to increased sales.

The only thing reasonable I could see about this is that maybe the players who are making the game possible via their financial support are sometimes pissed off at the freeloaders who are playing at their expense.

But that seems too much of a stretch, I doubt many of these kids have any interest in the business model behind this game or anything else. I sure didn't as a young child.

Meh, life. Most of us saying we didn't "care" when we were kids either were popular enough we didn't *need* to care, or being popular seemed so unrealistic that it became something pointless to bother reaching for. I had long hair and a trench coat because I "didn't care" (lol at that).

Now that I'm old I seriously don't care, for real. Time grinds the soul and most of us learn, one way or another, what's important in life. I guess if I was a socialite or politician or some other "career" where image mattered even as an old guy I might view it differently even now. Instead I'm an old disabled guy who just wants to keep breathing a bit longer, and play a few more good games.

And see the ending of GOT. Even though its going to suck.

I wonder if you were watching / playing movies / games that were "not yet meant" to be watched / played in your age.
Let us not act like angels, we all did play violent video games, watched "inappropriate" movies and don't get me even started on porn topic :-D
I most likely did, but usually it wasn't something my parents would have condoned. Whereas this is someone openly speaking about their 8 year old knowingly being allowed to play an online game rated for 12+. That's the difference... The parenting, not the fact that the forbidden is always a fruit that kids will usually end up getting their grubby little hands on.

This is like CSGO's weapon skins, people paying £20+ for a Cosmetic texture that doesn't benefit play, it's all bragging rights. Quite sad state of affair the gaming industry has become.
I'd rather they went back to paying for content/subscription than where it's at today.
