Fresh Prince's Alfonso Ribeiro sues Fornite for using the Carlton dance

Didn't know everyone here is an expert on copyrights. I'm sure everyone who feels something is copied or stolen from will definitely try their luck getting it straightened out.

So is the message here that unless you're a subject matter expert you shouldn't express your opinion? I don't know. That would seem to make for some pretty short comment threads. ;)

I don't know as that I consider myself as an expert. But, I did have a college course on marketing and copyright with respect to filing conventions in regards to photography.

I've also been around for decades, and have seen many copyright claims upheld on material about which I hadn't given a second thought.

To be fair he should be compensated for his iconic move.

If the moon walk was used I'm sure MJ's estate would expect royalties.

I agree also most actors or entertainment stars shouldn't have to do dispute a issue publicly over some petty **** like this.
If the fornite developers would agree to give them a reasonable chunk of money to keep the dancing and give proper credit all people win.
If they refuse to pay when asked and the facts are stacked against them.
Yeah they need to be sued after trying to be reasoned with.

Wouldn't it be one of those "self evident truths", that for a person to judge when someone else "thinks they're an expert" on any given topic, that they would have to think they're an expert, or be an expert themselves to make that call?

So now he is in the process of copyrighting the dance after 20 years... That would mean they haven't broken any copyrights. yet...

Fortnite creators Epic earned 3 billion dollars in profit in 2018. For God's sake, pay the man.
