Ouch! These fun little devices are now weapons of massive disruption.
Ten Thousand travelers have been grounded or redirected away from Gatwick AP, UK due to two separate cases of drones seen over the runways. One would think that due to the huge difference in size & mass, that a commercial aircraft would be immune to this little Nat, but take one into an engine or crash into the cockpit windscreen when on approach and you have the makings of a real disaster.
The problem is the little buggers are so nimble and quick that even if the choice were made to knock or shoot them out of the sky it's a fools errand.
I see no workable real solution.

Hmm; IMO sadly -- lots of luck and not any more effective than passing more laws :sigh:Gatwick chief operating officer Chris Woodroofe said: "The police are looking for the operator and that is the way to disable the drone."
