I installed a GeForce FX5200 PCi adapter in an Acer Aspire G600 desktop. The adapter was recognised in Device Manager, but did not display on monitor. The amber light when the monitor is on usually changes to a steady green and displays data when in use. This monitor just had a flashing green light but no data display. The onboard Sis still worked. Advanced display settings showed only the Sis, so I couldn't run 2 monitors (not that I want to). Is the onboard Sis PCI or AGP? Is there a way to disable the onboard Sis? Will the Aspire take another adapter?

How?

That's what I thought, but there is no "Disable" for the video - just PCI or AGP.
The adapter works regardless of whether it is set to PCI or AGP.

common names for the menu this switch can be found include: perhiperals, advanced, advanced options, chipset options. it's possible that your have an OEM bios that does not allow said option. in that case, you can select the onboard adapter from device meneger in windows and choose to disable it.
