Lately when I startup and first try to log onto the net, ZoneAlarm
comes up with the advisory that it is trying to act as a server and
asks me if I want to allow or deny.

Well, if I knew something about it, I might be able to make a correct decision.

Being the cautious type, I always deny it, but at the same time opening Firefox
the first time is always a very slow process, sometimes having to be repeated
a couple times for it to succeed, and sometimes having to restart the whole
computer. Dont' know if that's related or not, but it is annoying.

Can anyone clue me in what this "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services"
trying to act as a server is all about?

Thanks!!

Well, apparently you're in good company re: the messages you keep getting.

It seems recently made a change (just end Aug, '08) in the way a service accesses the internet, Zone Alarm made a change to how it reacts and voila! Generic Host Process for Win32 Services messages.

Seems to remain a ZoneAlarm problem you'll just have to track until it;s fixed. click here
