Getting ActiveX to work

i really need help my pc went loopy so i got new hard drive borrowed a disk and started from scratch but since then i cant get activex to work on anything from uploading pic's to playing messenger games i have searched and searched done everything i have come across i have reinstalled ie changed settings short of chucking it out the window im now at a loss is there anyone here who would have a clue

Check the add-ons and make sure you have shockwave flash object enabled:

Open IE> Tool> Manage add-ons> check both locations in dialog box for 'shockwave flash' > Highlight and Enable. Reboot
