This 'smart home' stuff is kinda interesting. Everyone is looking for the next Smartphone like revolutionary device (or devices) and everything since has failed to impress. Tablets.. sorta, smart watches.. no, Glass, lol!

The Smart Thermostat and smoke alarm sound cool, but they're hundreds of dollars. Nest has said they want people to feel emotionally connected to their home and that making their home safer should be an emotional decision. To be fair, if my wife came home with a $200 smoke alarm I'd be pretty emotional, but not in the way they were hoping for.

Maybe Google can figure it out. Sounds like the idea of a connected home has potential, but unless they plan on subsidizing these devices with ads I'll probably just be reading about them here on TS.
