Highly anticipated: Nvidia just confirmed a press event set for August 20, 2018. Some special unveilings may take place which just might be the next generation of GeForce graphics cards that we have all been waiting for.

As the long wait for the next generation of graphics cards continues, Nvidia has scheduled an event at Gamescom 2018. On August 20 at 1:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, Nvidia will show off upcoming games as well as "some spectacular surprises."

Falling in line with previous rumors, those surprises may finally be the GeForce GTX 1180 and other graphics cards. In the event description, Nvidia even states, "this event will be filled with awesome new PC games running on the latest GeForce hardware." Maybe it's just marketing speak, but it also could be a big hint as to what is coming.

Anyone interested in attending the event live can sign up to attend while space is available. For now, all we know is that it's somewhere in Cologne, Germany, with a finalized location to be revealed closer to the actual event. Those unable or unwilling to travel will be able to watch a live stream of the event.

Nvidia will be reopening its space on August 21 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm CET so that fans have additional time to try out new games and hopefully new hardware.

Until late August, there is unlikely to be any more confirmed information available, but leaks may continue to appear as we get closer. Can't wait and still need to build a PC now? Check out our PC Buying Guide for builds suited for every budget.

I'm looking forward to this, despite knowing damn well I won't be able to afford an 1180/2080 until next year...even if the prices don't go up.

Not too excited for the GeForce GTX 1180 since it's not to going to be that much faster than my overclocked 1080 Ti.

The 1180 Ti variant which is going to be a good while from being announced is the one I'm keen on.

I think everyone needs to temper their, "Oh it's only going to be a marginal bump, so-I'm-waiting-until-the-year-2047-to-get-my-NVidia-9080-because-my-1070-will-easily-last-me-until-then" comments because for one, NVidia knows it's been 2 years and if they don't deliver at least the same gains the 1080 did over the 980, then there will be a backlash.

Also, no one has mentioned the 1180+ model that's been rumored/spotted for a September launch. This might provide a significant bump over the 1080 ti even, and could possibly prove to be a preliminary 1180 ti.

Nvidia could release a 1180 Ti that's 10% faster than the 1080 Ti and people would buy it like hot cakes. It's not like you can run to AMD and buy something from them in the same performance bracket.

IF this turns out to be next gen cards, which hasn't been confirmed yet, and they are a significant bump up they will cost an arm and a leg. After all, it makes zero sense for Nvidia to release more powerful cards at the same price as last gen when last gen has no competition at the upper end. 7nm Vega isn't even coming anytime soon.

It will be the same story as when the 10s launched: Founders Edition with barely any stock for 3 months, then aftermarkets with barely any stock for 5 months

When can first video cards of every new line be bought with a traditional nvidia leather jacket?

No problem to tell that some miners are BUTT HURT!!! ,with the crash in crypto prices.bought cards for a mining rig, just before the bottom drops out. then can't sell them cause can buy a new unused card for less than what they paid... ROTFLMFAO :O
I am not looking for a second 1080 any longer, be skipping a generation or 2 as allways.

and with electricity prices to Double here in the near future.the state of pc gaming as it stands right now.I'm sure I'm not alone. when I say I hope they sit on the shelf for a couple of years ..let me know when your stuck with them huang .I'll take a couple on the cheap.

I still have a couple of tee shirts that came with my BFG tech 512 meg 6800 ultra, and my BFG tech 7900 GTXOC.. no leather jacket :( just teeshirts.nice teeshirts though.
