help - strange virus/bug corrupting programs - icon turns to unknown

hi,
i may have a bug or virus. don't know where i got it from. but it's corrupting programs and the desktop icons are turning into unknows icon one by one. any ideas what i can do? :-(

You`ve done all the usual scans of course ?

Try creating a new user profile.Sometimes corrupt profiles can produce weird results.

i tried ewido, and adaware, they couldn't find anything.

Boot in safe mode
turn off system restore.
run your anti-virus.
run spybot.

report what your anti-virus says
