How do I disable the Antivirus in Windows XP?

How do I disable the Antivirus in Windows XP? I need to do that because people say that disabling it will take away the ikernel.exe error. Please Help

There is no built in antivirus program in XP are you referring to nortons anti virus or some other program you have installed?
if so then the options section of the program in question will have the option to disable it.
