Microsoft Office apps will soon preload on Windows boot for faster launch

Oh, wonderful! Add to Windows' memory bloat! When they do this, someone will figure out how to disable it, same as OneDrive. Already, there are too many apps that think they are so special that they have to be pre-loaded.

Did Microsoft steal this idea from LibreOffice, where preloading is optional?

no im stating facts, monopoloy means its the only option, its just the standard, and just because the UK and china prefer to use the inferior product thats on them
Although there are other choices, Microsoft Windows fits the definition of a monopoly: "the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service." Microsoft effectively controls the operating system marketplace with over 70% market share. Windows is not the only option, but using another OS instead is extremely difficult, because Windows has the apps that 71% of the users use.

That's not Microsofts fault blame the app developer

The app developer? Basic economics. Develop apps for the OS with 71% market share of desktops, rather than MacOS or Linux. What would you do, Mr App Developer? So you want to blame the app developer company for wanting to make some money for its efforts? Sure. To Microsoft's credit, it provided inexpensive software tools to do Windows apps at the time when Windows grew in popularity and it still does.

Do we really need that with blazing fast SSDs, Microsoft? I think that's an elaborate excuse to hoard more data from the user.

Less is more. I don't care how powerful a PC is, I always configure it to start up with only the essential apps the user needs. One of the reasons I hate Win11 is the removal of the toggle that turned off all background MS bloatware shipped with Windows 10.

There's got to be a team dedicated to new user annoyances at MS headquarters. They seem committed to drive people away from their products.
Unfortunately, until I find replacements for Quicken (bad enough that they are now subscription model - used to upgrade every 4-5 years as there were enough useful features to upgrade, and Tax Software (haven't seen Linux replacements for either). I got away from Office a long time ago and rarely even use my office replacements for anything other than looking at an Word (docx), Excel (xlsx), and/or Powerpoint (pptx) document from a friend or on the web.

Nonetheless is not Microsoft's fault that most of the apps exist only for it. Microsoft is a monopoly in the same way that Google is a monopoly it's simply has such mess of market share because it offers the best product in its category. Nothing is stopping Linux or Mac from offering a better product they simply have never done so.

You'd think that Microsoft would spend resources to make WIndows 11 bulletproof with no BSODs ever, and even more secure. But, NO! Microsoft wants everyone to see the glitz of the latest tarted-up desktop, and we are all expected to admire its work, which is sometimes a step back in ease of use. With Windows 11, the start button is useless for finding and running an app. It is much faster to type the program name in the search bar, instead of clicking the mouse half a dozen or more times. Remember, this is the best-ever "graphical" user interface.

I feel no sympathy for the Windows 11 designers and developers, having to deal with an operating system which they continue to make more complicated, though claiming they are simplifying it. Any OS with a registry as messy, bloated and inscrutable as Windows is doomed to BSODs and other malfunctions.
