Hi, I'm trying to turn OFF my XP firewall, however I cannot access it. I went to LAN properties >> Advanced and expected:

" Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the interent"

so that I can uncheck it, however all it reads is:

"Windows cannot display the properties of this connection. The Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) information might be corrupted. To correct this, use System Restore to restore Windows to an earlier time (called a Restore Point) System REstore is located in the System Tools folder in Accessories."

then I go to System Restore, and find that there is no restore points!

is there a way to turn off the xp firewall any other way?

- thnx

Disable the Windows Firewall service.

You shouldn't ignore the WMI error though. Something important is broken. Better fix it.
