HTC is doing everything right in terms of putting out a quality smartphone. Now they just need some help in spreading the word and for that, they’ve hired Paul Golden – the former head of marketing for Samsung’s mobile phone business – to serve as an advisor to HTC Chairwoman Cher Wang according to a report from Bloomberg.

As pointed out in a separate report, Wang has recently taken over some of the day-to-day responsibilities of CEO Peter Chou. It’s a move that will give Chou some added time to focus on new products while Wang is now tasked with bolstering HTC’s marketing push for their latest flagship handset.

Golden’s LinkedIn profile indicates he worked at Samsung from 2008 through 2012 and was responsible for creating and launching the highly successful Galaxy brand. He is currently employed by marketing firm Brand Slam, the profile notes.

It is unclear how long Golden might remain at HTC. People familiar with the matter told the publication he has initially signed a three-month contract that includes attendance at meetings as of this month.

As mentioned earlier, HTC has produced some impressive handsets over the past couple of years starting with the original HTC One. Unfortunately that device was overshadowed by Samsung’s Galaxy S4 and if things don’t change this year, it’ll be the same tune all over again with the HTC One M8 and the Galaxy S5.

I'm sure Paul wasn't lured away for a few extra pennies by HTC, he must've been worth his weight in Gold-en to them.

Wanna take away Samsung's thunder? Make good qwerty phones. Good marketing isn't going to save you from re-inviting the wheel, and not everyone hates qwerty phones. I am sick of tablet sized phones though.

Also, stop locking down your phones. People don't have to S-OFF their Samsung devices. To me, it's a big selling point.

Please wake me up if the former Samsung executive now in htc management will release an htc smartphone series named Huniverse.
