i accidentally downloaded a file called Video ActiveX and now i there is a blinking icon on my taskbar. I cant get rid of it and it keeps saying that there is spyware on my computer and to download something. Can someone help me get rid of it?

You need to have a read of this - If your system is infected. Read this before deciding whether to CLEAN or REFORMAT.

Then if you should wish to proceed with cleaning your system you need to go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT and AVG Antispyware logs as ATTACHMENTS into this thread, only after doing the above.

No it's still wrong, in your processes it still says it's HiJackThis.exe, you need to rename it to Analyze.exe because most stuff can hide from HiJackThis.exe ;)

Ok now im sure ive done everything exactly as it has said.

ok now ive downloaded the exe file to the proper directory. I renamed it Analyze.exe. I created a shortcut to the desktop. I ran Analyze.exe. I saved the report. And now i have attached them. Is it correct now?

You have a fair few nasties there, im off to bed now but will have a proper look when i wake up.

You haven`t attached a Combofix log as per the instructions, please do so in your next reply.

Download Vundofix from HERE.

Double click the Vundofix.exe to run it.

Right click in the vundofix window and click add files.

Enter the full file path/s to the files you want Vundofix to delete and click the add files button, followed by the close window button. Click the remove vundo button and let Vundofix do it`s stuff.

This is the filepath you need to enter into Vundofix.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\fwjgtk.dll

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Reboot into normal mode and rehide your protected OS files.

Post fresh HJT and Combofix logs.

Here are the new logs

I think the virus is gone because the blinking icon in the taskbar is now gone. thanks for the help. Tell me if any further action is required.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 from HERE. Save it to your Desktop and extract it.

2. Download the attached avengerscript.txt and save it to your desktop

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by double clicking on its icon on your desktop.

Under "Script file to execute" choose "Load script from file".
Now click on the folder icon which will open a new window titled "open Script File"
navigate to the file you have just downloaded, click on it and press open
Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:

It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.

5. Please attach the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply, as well as a fresh Combofix log.

Unfortunately, it doesn`t say in your Avenger log what the results were of the file deletion. To add to that, the file I wanted you to delete is still showing in your Combofix log.

I suggest you run the Avenger again as per the instructions in my post #12.

Then post the requested logs again.

combofix problem

i deleted combo fix yesterday. today when i clicked the link to download it there was an error message on the site. i couldn't download it again. are there any other working links?

The only two sites for downloading Combofix I know are both not responding. Although the Bleeping Computer site appears to be working normally otherwise.

I can only assume that this problem will be fixed shortly.

In the meantime, just follow the instructions for the Avenger and post the results.

That appears to be in order.

Until you`re able to download and run Combofix again, I don`t think there`s anything else we can do.

Hopefully, your problem is now solved.
