IE / Java Error

I am getting this error when I try to access a bank site. It reads,

"applet_window is null or not an object"

Is this a java error? Do I need to update the Java pluggin, or is it something that is wrong with IE? The error pops up, I do not want to debug, and then it just leaves me with a blank screen.

As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

Well.. that can be one of many several things

Updating your java runtime from sun's site can't hurt.

If you aren't running the most recent version of IE as well, that can sometimes cause errors to get thrown.

Occasionally those sites use Macromedia tools like flash/shockwave (not very often with banks). Those plugins can throw similar errors to Java/JavaScript at times.

I'd say Java is your most likely culprit, but Windows Update can't hurt.
