Installing Windows off FireWire

I've got a Sony Vaio here that doesn't have an internal CD, and I don't have the dock. It won't boot off USB.

Does Windows 2000 or XP support being installed from a Firewire (i.Link) CD drive? This seems to be the only option available for it.

I've never heard of that ever. But maybe its possible. But I've certainly never heard of that.

If the Vaio boots up, you could connect it to another PC with a network-cable. Then copy the W2K or XP files from the CD onto the HD of that Vaio. Then install from there.

I think Windows couldn't care less where you install it from. At least it doesn't mind when you do it off a CD or a hard drive or USB storage or a network drive.
