Internet connection help needed.

Hi there im running windows XP and SP2 using a laptop packard bell easynote,
cable modem provided by NTL uk connected by ethernet lead any thing else you need to know please ask. The problem is i have limeted connectivity to the internet when i first start the laptop and modem i have about 5 minutes of internet then it disconnects and i cant regain it unless i turn on and off the laptop HOWEVER i can still chat on msn and skype even tho i cant broswe the net and also my avast anti virus scanner still works but i just cant stay connected to the internet to browse please help.

Those symptoms could be spyware I suppose.

Go HERE follow the instructions,then post an HJT log in the Security forum.

That would at least rule out that possibility.
