Somewhere there was a thread about someone complaining that they could not surf the web in IE, even though they were connected to the internet.
I have the same problem, but I use FireFox (WAAAAAYYY better...) which works fine and decided that I would give up on trying to upgrade my OS (in this case, Windows 2000)
Some solutions said reinstall Win2000, but I really could not do that, because this is my work computer and can't afford to take it of for that period of time.
Long story but I have found a way, which made me pretty excited , use Firefox or whatever, but open our microsoft update page in Windows Explorer (START -> Right click -> Explore), for some reason that works.
Anyway, this may help somebody, thought I'd drop this post.
Cheers!
