Internet not working after blackout during thunderstorm.

Yesterday we had a thunderstorm and the house had a quick blackout. When the power came back, both the computers started back up. When i tried to go on the internet on mine, it wouldn't connect. It says I'm connected to a network(not Limited connection), but nothing is working, AIM says "unable to connect to server". My other computer is working fine. Its on a wireless network while my main one is on the ethernet cable. The modem works like it always does. I dont know what the problem is, i ran diagnistics and checked wires. i think my network chip or module might be fried, but if that was the case, my computer would notify me like it usually does for failing componets. any help would be appriciated.

It seems likely that something has been fried, possibly your ethernet chip.

Check in your device manager for any yellow question or exclamation marks.

Maybe try connecting your computer direct to your modem and se what happens.
