iPhone 4S owners file suit against Apple, claim iOS 9 made phones unbearably slow

Still have my handy 4S, and, yes, it is slower with iOS9. Still, I'm happy to have a four year old device that does what I need, fits nicely in form and function in my day to day work, and will upgrade to something else when I need to do so or the thing dies. Annoyed enough to demand I'm compensated for reality? Ummmm.
You're only likely to get a couple of bucks anyway. Is it worth it to, "starve an Apple, feed a lawyer"? Ummmm.....I would think you'd need a masters in ethics before you set about to judge which is, "the greater of two evils", let alone choose one to punish...

On a lighter note, isn't this the same basic crap Apple has been doing to Windows computers for years with "iTunes"? I hear tell, they install about ten running processes, where one or two would do nicely. That's just hearsay though. I wouldn't touch anything Apple related with your ten foot pole.

Thing is, new operating systems don't always slow down older hardware. Sure, at some point there may be a limitation that prevents upgradinh due to a lack of resources. In the early days of computing, a new OS added enough weight that it did slow down older systems.

But take Android. Recent versions have been generally faster, on the same hardware, than older versions. Even after Google dropped support for my old Galaxy Nexus, it ran a community ported version of Kit-Kat (4.4) and Lollipop (5.0) just dandy. Sure, it might have been a bit of a small footprint for more demanding new apps, but the new OSs ran better than ever. Or take Windows 10... that ran great on my old Intel Core 2 Duo laptop, better than Vista ever did.. nearly a ten year old device, sadly died recently of delayed head trauma (a busted screen hinge finally fatigued the screen connector).

So it's not a given that Apple's new OS destroys the old hardware. But hey, it's Apple, and their agenda is clearly built around a 2-year device life. So let's say it did run like Chris Christie on an iPhone 4s. Apple could have not supported the 4s... if it can't meet their performance standards, they should drop it. Yes, it's much worse when Apple dies that because, unlike Android or Windows, Apple doesn't care about backward compatibility.

So let's say they decided it ran well enough. Honestly, if their promotions claim that it's bigger and better, maybe users should be cautious. But they're making the claim it's the fastest iOS ever. Unless they have a big, hairy asterisk after that statement explaining that, hey guys, "fast" is just a marketing term and we don't actually expect any old supported device to run faster, well, they have decieved at least some if their customers.

My Galaxy S2 with Cyanogenmod 13 works really well you can do everything with it as long as you don't ****ing have shitty facebook app installed lol.
So yeah Android can run really well in old hardware.

I'm not too bothered with the version of IOS - but I had to upgrade to IOS8 as an increasing number of apps would not work with IOS7

I then suffered wi-fi problems (well documented elsewhere) on IOS8 so then had to go to IOS9 to resolve these.

With Windows there is always a way to revert (reload) an earlier operating system - Microsoft have even build Windows 10 upgrade with a go back to Windows 7 feature - so why will Apple not allow users to go back to older versions?

Mine still & has been saying iOS 7.1.2 for a loooong time. And it keeps telling me its up to date, hmmmm :)
