Ok cool, what is being planned for Saturday? capture points or push the trolly etc...?

Be nice to play some default games again, I've been playing orange maps and custom far too much recently, i've almost forgot what normal grav will be like!
 
Wow must have been flying by this post for a while now, I'll definately be joining, bought TS2 almost over a year ago and I've played it for about 2 hours total, god this steam update is going to take a long time:(

my steam handle is the same as my name here.
 
This sounds nice and Id like to be in that, but TF2???....???...... !?!?!
Plz organize something l4d(2) or maybe even some MMORPG (if enough have the same)...

Most, or all of us here have TF2 through the orange box. Its fun, friendly competition. And I do believe were way too many to play l4d, even vs.

True, true about TF2, but l4d has groups you join and they got some servers you can play more than 8 people. Dont really know how they do it, but it could be fun having some TS-L4d2 ^^
 
I say battlefield bad company 2 after tf2! Awesome game! And only got it today! :) so I'd be a n00b.

Well its kinda same here with TF2.

Although, I think Mathew is being right with the choice of game, as game with lower system requirements will mean more people can join in. So as long as that rule is followed it doesn't really matter which game we choose. I mean its just for some good fun :)

Although in this case it will be others who will have it :( as I am kinda unable to have a hang of this damn notebook keyboard's keys as few of them keep popping up on their sides (read I really want to hit whoever designed it at HP with a big hammer !!).
 
Just a quick update from myself, I'll be around two hours or so late since the event is starting early my time and I wont be home. So you guys better be playing into the night ;-) .
 
And from my world it starts really late! But I'm ready to play way into the night so it's all cool :)

Ok, I can safely say this didn't turn out how I expected it to. I say we try again I'm the future but make people sign up or something so we know everyone will actually turn up??
 
Good point what 6 or 7 turned up when I was there; but I enjoyed it frankly despite being umm fragged alot, however, if there were more people I am sure things would have been easier. Anyway, IMHO time may have been the issue behind not everyone showing up. Perhaps next time we can set time for bit later hours.
 
I think the fact that members of this site are spread around the whole doesn't make things easy to organize. Maybe TS should do a couple of small Left4Dead servers. It's easier to set-up groups of 4 people. ;)
 
Indeed, the turnout was lower than expected. Plenty of people showed up, but most only stayed briefly. I think we may either have to aim for smaller sessions until the Steam group is well populated and active, or simply open the server to the public and make it more appealing for random individuals to join (preferred maps, respawn times etc.)

This was an experiment, and while things could have gone better, it wasn't entirely disastrous. We had a blast with the group who showed up and stuck around, and it served as a great learning experience for future events.

Thanks again to those who participated and we hope you'll join us again in the coming weeks.

First of all it was great fun as long as it lasted, although I was at the receiving end of it most of the time being a newbie at TF2 :D

I am unsure why, but despite TF2's reasonably low system requirements, and with default settings it is pushing temperatures on this notebook through the roof (although I was getting very decent frame rates), while playing with you guys the other day, I ended up having to stop once GPU temperature crossed 80C and CPU temperature was 64C.

It shouldn't happen in my view, but it does, so I am going to transfer TF2 to my desktop, and see how things go there.

Agreed, the time I was on (of which I was the first one on and last one off :p) was pretty good, at one point we did have a good amount of players, but only for 20 minutes or so then everyone left.

Maybe do a techspot famous laptop or graphics card give away to who ever gets the highest amount of pointS before the end of the evening? Sounds fair and you'll fill the server in no time :)
 
Hmm good point; but I think instead of giving away one 'big' prize; perhaps lots of 'smaller' prizes over a period of time make more sense. But anyway, personally I don't care about it much, as long as its fun thats all I would ask for.
 
I was Burger Train and i had lots of fun playing. Wish there was more people. I would have recruited my buddy who wanted to play but he had some internet issues that day. But I'm looking forward to the next meeting.
 
I was going to join in, but i was afraid that i would have fragged Matthew to a meaty pulp and he would have gotten mad and shut down the server...:p :wave:.....or I had two sick kids,anyway, whens the next one Matthew?
 
:( No worries red, Snailbarf slaughtered me plenty in your absence. We haven't set an official date yet and we're considering the use of a scheduling tool to better chart everyone's availability. The next gathering will probably be within two weeks, I imagine. More details will follow soon.
 
I've set out a modest goal for future; and that is 'i hope not to get fragged alot like this in the next round'.
 
We intend to host the second event on Saturday, May 22 and we'll be posting more details on that soon. In the meantime, Julio and I plan to play TF2 this Friday night starting sometime around or after 10PM EST. Since it's just a minor affair, we'll likely play on a populated public server. If you're available, we'd love for you to join us.
