Keyboard and mouse suddenly unresponsive

E

evnscnclvemo

yesterday everything was working fine. this morning i turned on my computer and it booted correctly, but when it got to my desktop, neither my mouse nor kjeyboard were working

just a few notes:
-i have windows xp profesional
-my mouse uses usb port
-my keyboard uses ps2 port

keep in mind the keyboard works only before it reaches my desktop

i have already tried:
-rebooting (many, many times)
-making sure the keyboard and mouse were plugged into the right spots
-using my brothers mouse and keyboard
-went into bios
-repairing windows from cdrom
SOOO now its installing windows like its supposed to be
BUT MY MOUSE STILL WONT WORK
and some pop up popped up (saying something about a software without a liscene and if i want to continue setup anyway)
and i cant click yes or no so its just stuck at "setup will complete in 34 minutes" and i dont know what to do
someone please help

First, try a different mouse and keyboard. Also, try an old keyboard and mouse in PS/2 slots... as a test.

We are astonished by so many failures of USB mouse and keyboard configurations... There are now so many that don't last longer than a year.
