At some point in time someone said that about all resolutions of smart phones. You just added to the list that will eventually fade.4K is stupid.

Only 4k.. wow phones are lacking these days, wheres the 19k displays with 128GB ram and 92 core phones that last 30min on battery? or heck the 1080/720P displays with 3gb ram & 4 core phones that last 3 days on battery?

is "triggered" what the cool kids say now? I guess I am too old to even know what it implies. I understand the distance/perception thing, how ever, there are uses besides the way you are using it like the others here are mentioning... Did this "trigger" you? (again, I have no idea what it means but I want to be cool just like you so I used it)Triggered I see. Shame.
Learn about perceivable resolution as it relates to focal length ... then we'll talk.
is heavy vr usage worth it if the phone only last 4 hours with it ?If we are to see the S8 used more for VR the 2160x4096 resolution makes sense. I had a HTC Vive for a couple of days, the combined resolution is 2160x1200. Was testing this as a flight SIM but found that the resolution was just not high enough. An aircraft with analogue instruments, you could just make out the instruments and readings, the text was not readable. Switching the aircraft to an LCD based cockpit, the screens were completely unreadable, no idea of airspeed, altitude etc. I was using Prepar3D and X-Plane. Hopefully the next round of VR gear has 4k resolution, that is 2k per eye or better.
