We expected to see an onslaught of new hardware loaded with Windows 8 as the October 26 target date draws near and thus far, we haven’t been disappointed. The latest manufacturer to reveal their Windows 8 lineup is LG with two new systems vying for your hard-earned dollars this holiday season.
The first is an 11.6-inch hybrid touchscreen notebook / tablet known as the H1660. The IPS display operates at 1,366 x 768 while the system itself is powered by an Intel Atom Clover Trail (Z2760) processor. USB, Wi-Fi, HDMI-out and a microSD card slot all come standard.The system features an automated slide-out keyboard tray that comes out of hiding by pressing a button on the side of the chassis.
The H1660 is about as thick as a standard Ultrabook at 0.63-inches and weighs 2.3 pounds. That could be a significant amount of weight considering most tablets aren’t nearly this heavy. Either way, LG promises users can expect around 10 hours of battery life.
The second system on LG’s docket is a 23-inch touchscreen all-in-one, officially known as the V325. Under the hood is an Intel Core i5 processor and Nvidia GeForce GT640M graphics. The AIO supports 10-finger multitouch and includes a built-in digital TV tuner for watching broadcast television. The latter can be accomplished without having to log into Windows 8.
Judging by some of the press photos, LG also looks to be launching a standalone Windows 8 tablet. Specifications and details on that are still pending, however.
