Lightning strike

My house was struck by lightning. My router and cable modem didn't survive. My desktop computer will power on, boot normally, and hard drive seems to be working fine. My ethernet card didn't survive. I'm guessing the voltage travelled through the lan (should have been connected to surge protector but wasn't). I bought a new network card and tried installing it but it will not recognize that new network card has been installed. The sound is not working either. Also, whenever I try to shut down the computer, it automatically restarts. I'm thinking of purchasing a new motherboard but I want to be sure that it will solve the problem before making the purchase. Please help. Thanks.

IMO, even after a new mother board, you may sill have issues, so I would just scrap the old and move on to a new purchase.
