Tech Report got their hands on the Lucid Hydra load balancing chip. The chip (in theory) will allow not only two different types of mixed models of the same brand to work in unisone , but also ATI and Nvidia products to work together, in essence crossing SLI and Crossfire to work as one. The problem is that it allegedly is already facing resistance from Nvidia for infringing on its SLI licensing. Many here on Techspot have stated that they have been delaying purchases in anticipation of this new tech, and it it appears that it may be delayed even further over an upcoming legal issue over proprietary issues.
