Medieval 2 Total War Crashes as soon as I click the PLAY button

  1. Hello all I bought this game almost a year ago and have only played it a few times. I bought it through the steam application and downloaded it through there also. It was working fine for awhile and then it updated and hasnt worked since. I just kind of gave up after awhile. So now im making another attempt to try and fix it.

From the Medieval 2 Total War launcher I run my mouse cursor over the settings button or the play button on the bottom side of the launcher screen and this error pops up. *Note I dont even click the button all I have to do is run my mouse over it. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the game... my system specs are included after the dump information..

"An unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will be shut down immediately.

    Error in application."

------------I click for more details and this comes up---------------------------------------

"See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

    For example:

    < jitDebugging="true" />

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog."
