Monitor issues

I recently purchase Maxtor Hard Drive 160 Gig, after intalling it, it worked for a day, after that the monitor does not turn on/ shows a blank black screen and has the orange "sleep" button lit. I have checked all the electrical connection / vga, everything seems okay. Do any of you have any suggestion?.

Disconnect the drive. Perhaps your power supply doesn't have enough juice to start the system with it in.
Hard drives have absolutely nothing to do with monitors and their performance.
