Monitor not working, new computer

my monitor isnt working although the rest does. it is a new computer, asus mobo. only time it works is when i reset cmos. it then turns on and i can get into the bios menu however it shuts off into standby once i quit and save changes, although the keyboard still goes.

mobo has onboard graphics as well but same thing happens with this as well - even with the graphics card out.

i cant even get to the screen to update bios.

this is rather annoying - any advice would help.

I suggest you edit your profile & add system specs for the mobo, gpu, cpu, OS.

it shuts off into standby once i quit and save changes
Under this condition, did you move the monitor connection to check the onboard gpu output?

This sounds like the mobo does not have an auto-detect for the gpu card or the cmos setting dictates the gpu selection.

You are describing some sort of inverse logic in play here.
