I have an old Compaq Presario 5000 that is working fine with the monitor it came with. When I try to use another monitor, the system won't bring the monitor out of the power-saving mode. I tested the monitor and it works fine on another computer. It just won't receive any signal from the Presario. As far as I can tell, there are no problems with the onboard graphics. The computer, of course, seems to continue booting even though the monitor is not receiving any signal. Any ideas why this might be happening? Thanks for any help.
