Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich steps down following same-sex marriage uproar

Can I bag post 100?

I am wondering if Brendan Eich has upset a number of folks in Mozilla for other reasons. It could explain why there has been so much opposition to him.

To all of those bitching, moaning and complaining about Mozilla on this man's opinion on Prop 8 you all seriously need to learn from history.

Most importantly learn from this quote:

I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire

Now personally I think Prop 8 and all other pathetic BS like it is insulting to a very large % of the population. However while I disagree with this man's apparent opinion on this subject I am a firm believer in what I quoted above.. since it either applies to all or it applies to none.

Sad that so many others fail miserably at understanding that especially in the US when that is in essence your 1st amendment.

Now go hide your heads in shame for your total failure in this case.
He can say what he wants. My problem he was in a position to change policy that would have hurt people he did not agree with. I will say again. If you are basing your opinion on this issue on what your God says. I reject you pushing your religion on me. I don't give a damn what your God says.
He was not in a position to change policy. It can only be change by the Mozilla Foundation Board of Directors.

This is nothing but politics. The CEO paid $1k of HIS OWN MONEY years ago towards banning gay marriage but apparently it would have been OK if he spent that in opposition to banning gay marriage? Firefox proved that they are not the company I care to do business with; right down to the employees who disagreed with the man's personal business to all the gay marriage supporters who proved that if you don't agree with them then the 'we must destroy you' mentality!

I'm ALL FOR gay marriage simply because I don't see the point of banning it. If two people of the same sex want to be married then let them. However, I find myself going against such groups because of the mob-mentality that you are either with us or against us and if you are against us in-the-slightest then then like I said...we will destroy you.

Sorry but I'm starting to see so much gay marriage supporters as a bunch of mobsters...and I don't support mobsters.

It's over with my donations to Mozzila. Not fan of destroying someones life/carrier due to his personal views. I have supported gay rights from same reason. Won't support their vengeance on those which have not been on the same side. It seems that there is a matter of some money from Brendan to Prop 8. It would be nice to ask those employed at Mozzila which have stated their revolt if they would support refund of all those donation's to Mozzila from people who's political views don't match their own. Also would they participate proportionally by their salaries in this refund?

Why are people boycotting Firefox? They should boycott OkCupid! If a CEO is a liability because companies are telling people to boycott their product they have to act. They don't have an issue with his opinion - They have an issue with the way the market is reacting to him. If you boycott Firefox you are endorsing OkCupid's biased actions and impacting a lot of Mozilla staff who have done nothing wrong.

For those that just don't get it... how about this:

"I support child porn. I do not watch it or produce it, I only support it."

I want to be your boss. Will you work for me?

Yeah, child porn is totally the same thing as trying to protect your belief in the sanctity of marriage. When he is advocating for concentration camps for known homosexuals. k. Til then I would not compare it to child porn.

Once again someone telling me I have to abide by their God's rules. No. Period.

Bull.

Good Bye FF is has been good but will not support a community that lacks morals and values.

Well so much for freedom. I fought for Americans to have freedom of speech and expression. I too must say goodbye to FF because of there lack of respect towards an individuals right to express themselves. It is when a company thinks they are bigger than our constitution that they will start to fall. I see where FF was asking for support money well not from me anymore. I will support search engines that support the constitution by allowing freedom of expression to their employees as long as it does not inflict harm on someone. Bye bye FF
