Hey

I have recently formated my friends computer and Installed a bootleg copy of Windows XP Pro since he lost all his software / manuals that came with the computer in accident. I have not been able to find much about getting this driver for the Multimedia Audio Controller. I am wondering if anyone around here could help me find the drivers I need.

Here is the computer Specs

System Model:

VIA Technologies, Inc. P4M266-8235
Enclosure Type: Desktop

Multimedia:

MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device
Standard Game Port

Operating System:

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

Processor:

1.70 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
8 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Thank you for your time and your help

First thing first, get the bootleg version of Windows off there. You can get a copy of XP Home from NewEgg for like $89 OEM. If you wish to stick with Pro, you can also get a valid version for about $100 OEM then simply change the product key (google) to activate and be legal for the Genuine Advantage tool.

From there, you'll simply need to install (in this order)
1) The chipset drivers for your motheboard.
2) The audio drivers for your motherboard.

If you don't know the make/model of the motherboard, you can (web search/download) either free tool: CPU-Z or Everest.
