i unpluged my pc and everything from it and started cleaning my desk.
after i was done i pluged everything back the way it was.
when i booted up the pc i would hang in the windows logo screen.
i tried it a couple of times and hangs right at the same part.
-tried a xp recovery = nothing
-tried formating the hd and clean install xp =nothing
-removed cards-video/sound/nic= nothing
memory removed them am use 1 by 1 = nothing
last but not least i removed the cpu and it was hot!!!!,
i waited til it cooled down and placed it back. now the pc doesnt boot up.
one thing, also the pc when it was booting it detected both hd's but iwould not boot to any of them.
i even tried instaling it on the 2nd hd but had the same problem.
i also unplugged the dvd-rw and cd-rw
my specs are as follows:

abit mobo vt7
p4 3.2 ghz cpu
768mb ram
120gb western digital hd
60 gb western digital hd
ati 9600 video card
netgear nic card
windows xp pro edition

please help! i would really apreciate it!!!

Hmm...

Sounds like a heat issue and also could be that the CPU had no thermal paste on it. Did it? If not. this could be your problem. Try using another hard drive out of another computer and see if it boots.

i did that. put some paste on the cpu and it booted. but i still hangs on the boot up screen, where the windows logo comes up.
and i did swap hard drives and the same thing happens, dude im telling it's weird.
thanks.

You unplugged your computer. The lithium battery for CMOS backup might be bad. Try resetting BIOS and to replace configuration.

i think that did the trick. i removed the battery and placed it back. also resetted the bios. now it boots. the scroll bar on the windows screen kinda slows down but now it doesnt stop.im gonna buy a new battery for the cmos tommorow and replace it.
guys thanks a lot , saved me a lot of money and time.
you guys are great.
