I am looking at buying a second hard drive for my computer. This hard drive is going to store my home videos on it so I can edit them then burn them to DVD. I am going to go a SATA 3.0GB/s since my motherboard supports it. Looking to go 160GB+ but prefer a 250GB and trying to stay under $100. I have noticed that most drives have a 8MB cache but would it be smart to go 16MB cache. I have been looking at Newegg.com for a drive. I'm not a person that knows alot about hard drives so a little advice would help. Thanks

It all depends on the specs of the rest of your system. If you have a fairly high end computer and want to squeeze out as much performance as you can, the 16mb cache is a nice little feature.

But it isn't THAT much faster than an 8mb cache, so it's no biggy. Myself, I went for a 16mb cache 250mb since the price wasn't THAT much more and I am a speed geek ;)

Cache is not too relevant. You need a drive with the lowest possible access time that you can afford. Anywhere under 9ms...
