Your Firewall is kputz.

What account are you using when booting Normal? Should be a User and not the Admin

I have always used an admin account to log in to windows 7 and have done so for years with no problems. I have recently created a few other accounts as "guest" with no admin rights and still get no internet in normal mode.

I have a list of all my drivers from Nirsoft free software and about 30 of them are listed as "critical"...........whatever that means?
Also Windows 7 will not allow me to access windows update in safe mode, which I think is standard and with no internet in normal mode: problem.!!!
 
Get into Networking & Sharing - - is this what you see - - the red outlined connection?

change the second one to PRIVATE

Hmm; You can't change the network type because you're not connected to it.
In the system tray there's a network icon {either a wifi or wired} right-click on it->Network Sharing
On the LEFT SIDE click CHANGE NETWORK SETTINGS
Locate the UNIDENTIFIED and right-click->disable and again DISCONNECT (may already have done so)

disconnect the cable from the router to your PC, wait 30 seconds and then reconnect

come back to Network Sharing and it should look like

Or my firewall being Kaputz I'm not so sure, but something is booting in normal mode that is interfering with networking otherwise this would also occur in safe mode?
And what doesn't load in safe mode that does in normal mode? Drivers!!
 
I've always booted and logged on as an admin as that is the only account or user with no problems.
And that is a known security risk. Any breach gives the attacker immediate access to the whole system.
This was document WAY BACK in Win/XP

I appreciate your efforts, so thank you for that.
I have clicked on the system tray and brought up the network page.
On the LEFT side it only states..........
1. Control panel.
2. Change adapter settings.
3. Change advanced sharing settings.

I am unable to right or left click on "Unidentified Network" in the centre screen.
 
Without MY HANDS on your system, I don't know what else to do :sigh:
 
Jobeard I do appreciate your help here. You are the most resourceful of anyone who has tried to resolve my issues anywhere.
Excuse my ignorance here, but should Netbios be enabled or disabled over tcpip?

Would "NETSTAT" be of any help here from Command Prompt?

First, that route delete would kill the access to the internet as that's known as the Default Route and every system must have one.

I've captured the ROUTE PRINT by entering ROUTE DELETE 0.0.0.0. as you have recommended and is as follows.........

Clearly you are not getting DHCP configuration data.
The Default Gateway should look like

the 192.168.0.1 is the router and the 0.5 is the pc NIC address (both of these) will be different for you.

OK; let's get brutal.
  • open the control panel-> Admin Tools-->right click Services-->runas admin (give the password)
  • scroll way down to find Windows Firewall. dbl-click. On the General Tab, click STOP and then change Startup Type to DISABLE
  • click OK
  • exit services
Now let's verify the adapter.
get into Network & Sharing again
on the left side Change Adapter Settings
you should have Local Area Connection
dbl-click on it
  • bottom left, click PROPERTIES (you may need admin pwd again)
  • select Version 4 TCP/IPv4) (just one click to hilite)
  • click on the Properties button
  • Verify and or Set
  • (*) Obtain IP automatically
  • (*) Obtain DNS Automatically
  • click on the Advanced button
  • under IP address - Subnet mask; you should see
  • DHCP Enabled
  • click on DNS TAB; verify nothing in the two boxes
  • click on the WINS Tab
  • nothing in the upper box
  • under NetBIOS setting
  • (*) Default
  • click OK
  • click OK again
  • click close
  • click close

Disconnect the cable from the router to the PC; wait 30 seconds; reconnect; wait another 30 secs

in a cmd prompt enter IPCONFIG

it should look like:

Save the attached file, then RENAME it by deleting the .TXT portion. Then double click on the file to chage IPenableRouting.

Also go to Services
find Routing and Remote Access
Stop it
set Auto Start to Disable
