New pc added to domain, takes forever to load desktop

I've had this problem before, but I cannot remember how to solve the issue.
The computer is a new box just recently added to the domain controller XP x64 to our Server 2003 SP2 domain.

the computer just sits at "Applying computer settings" for about 5 to 10 mins, before actually logging in. Ive checked DNS and the A record and PTR records are there, I've reloaded the DNS zone, and made sure the computer was registering the server as its proper DNS before adding to domain

any solutions? thanks

Ok, it has something to do with the Certificate Authority.. doesn't seem to be autoenrolling machine certificates like I had set it to right away.. I logged off and waited for about 20 mins, then logged back in, and re-did the request certificate wizard in mmc, and it works no problem. seems I will have to do this for a few other accounts, hmm.. looks like I sort of solved my own problem.

does IAS have to be installed for VPN connections using L2TP to work properly? I cant seem to get my VPN connection to work with L2TP and certificates.
