New pc doesn't start

hi

i just installed a new system

amd64 4000+
gigabyte GA-K8NF-9
geforce6000LE 256mb
1536mb ram
maxtor 200gb sata hdd

but it doesn't want to start?
it won't get any further than this:

keyboard doesn't work either..
after 10-15 seconds it restarts (same problem)

help me out pls

can u enter bios ? try cleaing the cmos . and if still nothing un hook all unessery drives hdd dcroms mice printers etc. leave the keyboard in , see if it works . if it does then try hooking up the hdd check for posting , add 1 thing as u goin thru it .... also make sure u set the ide drives slave / master and on the porper order of the ribbon ( master setting belong on the end of ribbon , slave the middle connector ) try to avoid Cable select ....

i took out the extra two 256mbDDR sticks
and now it works..

how come?

now i only have 2x 512mb ddr

could be just the ram not compatable with the others or timings not matching up .

Make sure that you are putting the RAM in the correct slots for dual channel operations.

different ram specs usually cause this.

Old RAM is DDR333 and new is DDR400 - incompatible.
