Hi everyone...

I have problem with a friend's computer. He just bought a 500W PSU for his computer. I installed it... so far everything went fine.

But... somehow... his NIC seem to stop working. It doesnt show up in the Hardware manager... nor i can re-install it.

It has an Orange light on always... even if the computer is shutdown...

When i connet the network cable to it... it stays Orange.

The MoBo is a MSI-7260. The NICK is Ingrated.

Any hints?

It is possible that it just died. Many NICs are prone to failure for no apparent reason. If you know your cable and port you are plugging it into on whatever are good then my only other suggestion would be to try in a different OS, for example boot up with a live linux disk.

The good news is a PCI NIC can be purchased for really cheap.

Yes... i do know that Nic's are cheap... but i was trying to see if it can be fixed...

use the Device Manager to look for Yellow/Red marks.

if either, uninstall the driver, reboot. the system should discover the device
and reinstall it properly. if it does not, then (imo) the NIC is dead.
