I am currently trying to install Ubuntu 7.10 on an HP desktop with Vista currently running. Ive burned the iso image and rebooted from the disc and everything seems to be fine until I reach the loading boot screen with the Ubuntu logo. After it finishes loading I hear the jungle logon sounds but I dont get any video on the screen. I have a 27" VGA HDTV with 1024x768 resolution and I've tried changing the resolution on the install from VGA to 1024x768 32bit but I still the blue screen that shows "No Signal" in the top right corner as if there was no source to the monitor. If anyone can help please give me simple instructions if I have to change anything with Linux because I've never used the OS.

P.S. Im a Vista user who likes Vista way more than XP but I wanna see what Linux is about because I see that Vista has features that imitate Linux.

There should be an option to start the live-CD in a low resolution, try that.

If not, then try downloading the beta of 8.04 and see if that works any better.

Also be aware that by default all the flashy effects, that you're probably after, are turned off.
