No sound, driver seems to be present

Ok, so when it comes to computers I am in the dark ages! I have a Gateway and until a week ago I had well working speakers. Now I have no sound, speakers or headphones. I have gone into control panel and it says I have no drivers, then I went to Device manager and as far as I can tell it says my driver is there and working properly. I am stumped and need help.

I presume you have a Windows operating system. What version of Windows?

Please explain what you mean by this. Exactly what in the Control Panel says you have no drivers?
