What the hell is the problem with Norton, it's so paranoid! Every time I start Adobe Photo Downloader (apdproxy.exe), Norton Antivirus (NAVAPSVC.exe) goes mental, my CPU usage goes up to between 20-30%. This shouldn't happen. I used the stupid exclusions function to stop realtime autoprotect entering apdproxy.exe and it still doesn't stop NortonAV going crazy. The photo downloader's not downloading from the internet. How can I configure Norton, can anyone help please? :(

I'm afraidto say that's only one of its many problems. While I appreciate your asking for help with Norton, might you be tempted at all to ditch it and use either a free alternative, or a far superior alternative at a similar price?

Thanks spike.

Thanks for the reply spike, didn't expect a reply so soon. I have thought about using other antivirus programs. Apart from the two big ones Norton and McAfee, having been around other forums people say that NOD32, Kaspersky and ZoneAlarm are the best out. What do you say?

NOD32 is great on virii, not so great on trojans so I'm told.

AVG is free (always a plus) and perfectly sufficient for most.

Kaspersky is a good all rounder.

If you're willing to pay, I'd go with Kaspersky
