Not recognising correct size of hdd

i'm trying to fit a 160 gig hdd to my pc to replace the 12 gig which is partitioned 8 and 4 but the new hdd is being seen by the pc as an 8 gig can anybody advise me thanks dave.

What says that your new drive is 8GB?

What motherboard are you using?

We're using narrow bandwidth crystal ball on this site.

the hdd is a samsung sp1614n 160 gig. board is an ali aladdin v agpset ga-5ax

The board does support it. The latest driver is here. , but this won't read the full size either.
